So I just experienced my first American Thanksgiving. The general celebration isn't a whole lot different than it is in Canada (turkey, drinks, crazy amounts of food, friends and family) however the history is a bit different. They celebrate some group of pioneers called the pilgrims. As far as I know, in Canada, we just enjoy the party of it all.
My favourite part of American thanksgiving? Black Friday! They had all these crazy deals at stores and online which were too good to pass up on, especially with the high Canadian dollar, and recent introduction of the HST in BC...I easily saved a lot of money buying a few things to take home with me (like a tv, and some home renovation products).
The worst part of American Thanksgiving? I went to a pub where they were serving Turkey Beer. Yes, it's as disgusting as it sounds. It tastes like a post thanksgiving burp. In liquid form. A whole pint worth. I'll spare you the details, but lets just say 'never again' to the turkey beer. Wow.
