See how stupid this sounds? That is what it is like constantly hearing that Canadians deserve more in the USA because your spending tourist dollars here.

That was my original contention: we don't deserve more, especially if so many canadians are going to overtay.

But, given the new bill on 240 days, it does appear that Cdns will be getting even more special treament from US immigration,

Thats strange - in the proposed bill (passing) it clearly says they are doing this to boost the tourists dollars and to create more jobs with the VISIT USA act ... Boy O' Boy, the US really do love its tourists dollar after all - or do they?

http://www.ustravel.org/news/press-rele ... it-usa-act

From reading the brief details in the attached link to this NEW for Canadians only 3-year retiree visa with a 240 day rotation stay. The retiree should be over 50, plus (probably) buy expensive housing in the US, just dont work or take American jobs & prove self sufficiency whilst in America, America.

Where a Canuck repeatedly spends 240 days in the US (rotate, rotate, again & again), just how can Canada be their home & native land of residence - is there sufficient ties to prove Canada is home for those folks that take advantage of the new visa ... so, just where is home

I dont imagine for a minute that there will be very many uptakes on this new visa, considering the requirement conditions to get one. As for those snowbirds or those staying the 240 days - won't they get to lose the provincial health benefits, unless of course the province allows them a 240 day window to be outside wihout losing their entitlement to healthcare.

Instead of going stateside, Canadians should stay home & support our own economy, after all what we spend stateside as tourists could save a lot of jobs in Canada & possibly lower the unemployment here.

Do the Americans really need our Canadian tourist dollars - Go figure
