Hi all-our family is starting another teaching in Bratislava, Slovakia-where my husband says is particularily like home b/c of hockey and beer! We go to Vienna lots and hope to go north for fall break-any ideas? (we thought maybe some castle hunting and hikes) Oh, in case anybody is interested- from BC-the Rockies and Victoria.

Hey,
I see your note is from way back in 2005, but anyways, ask away if you need some advise or suggestions. I am Canadian Slovak (or Slovak Canadian - whatever you want), born in Canada, lived most of my life in SK and now back to Canada.
There is a good website for outings if you are looking to rent a place or a cottage: www.limba.sk
There is lots to see in Slovakia really, you will be amazed with the nature (anywhere north middle & eastern Slovakia) as well as history, most of it very little known outside the country (like the small romanesque churches with original fresco paintings inside scattered around Gemer region north of Roznava). Give me a shout if you want more.
