6 months in US - BF has job, can I go/work??

Hi,
My boyfriend (living together, but less than a year, so not technically common-law) has accepted a 6 month term in the US through the accounting firm he works for.

As it is for 6 months, is it correct that I should be able to also go along with no issues? His employer is paying for accomodations and he has the funds to support our other living expenses while away.

Also, is it possible for me to work while in the US? What type of Visa would I need? I have a Bachelor's Degree, but will not have any job prior to going to the US.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You cannot work if your status is tourist or "cohabiting partner" or even spouse.

You can only work if you get your own US work status (likely TN).

I shouldn't have any issues just going on visitor status when I cross the border should I? His term is only 6 months, I am just on a leave of abscence from my job and we own a condo here in Canada. So this shows our ties back to Canada. Is it better if I purchase a return ticket prior to going? Does it matter if we are on the same flight going down to the US or if we go on separate days? Do we need bank records or pay stubs to show he can support me while we are there?

Sorry for all the questions; I just want to make sure this goes as smoothly as possible.

You won't ahve issues as long as you maintain a full-fledged residence in canada -- and you prove to the officer that you are neither an overstay or illegal work risk.

The proof that you mentionned above should be sufficient.
