6 months is almost up

Hello my 6 months is almost up here in the United States, but I lost my passport. And have spoken to a counselor and the counselor told me to mail off the information to my parents and they could go to a Canadian Passport Office for me, and submit the forms. I have done that. I also am going to marry my girlfriend as soon as I got my passport. The Canadian Passport Office is suppose to mail me my passport to my girlfriends house here in the states. If we marry as soon as I get my passport, and we go to a immigration lawyer to begin filing paperwork. Do I have to still go back to Canada??
