A good get away in SA?

Hi, I want to get away to South America from hectic life of Toronto. I am looking at Brazil as my first choice because I think it should have good and quiet getaways since it is so huge. Can any of you recomend a location (preferably on the ocean side)? Additional info such as if a visa is reguired, living price, etc. would be appreciated.
