Hi everyone I just joined and its great
to find a website like this!

My question to all of you out there that
might be experienced with US customs
problems is:

I have a K1(Fiancee Visa) that is on
it's last stretch in Montreal but am
told that I will hear from them in 4-6
months. I have a standing job offer
from an employer in the states and want
to apply for a TN visa status.

Are they both mutually exclusive or
can I have both going on at the same
time. I know that CUSTOMS in the
states frowns on this but I need to know
if that is an official stand or just
their preference?

Is there anyone out there that has
perhaps gone or is going thru the same
dilemna?

Would love your help.MNM170

You can't do both a TN and a K1. TN is a temporary non-immigrant visa, and K1 is dual intent (meaning, you intend to immigrate).

I suppose you could try, but if your K1 is already at Montreal, then when you go to apply for a TN, they'll definitely know about it and likely deny the TN.
