Accepted for permanent residency in Canada, currently in H1B

Post Tue Jun 01, 2010 10:41 am

Hello,

My husband and i have recently been accepted as permanent residents in toronto. We are currenlty residing and working in the United States. We are both on H1 B right now here in US. Once we step in Canada and our passports get stamped for PR, will the H1 B visa that we currently hold here in the US be cancelled ? Please advice.

No. You are merely getting your CDn PR status and can leave canada immediately and continue working in US, on H1-B. One has no impact on the other.

You now have 3 years to actaully move to Canada.
