Activating approved TN-renewal

Postby jack2009 » Mon Jun 01, 2009 3:43 pm

Hello All,

My Employer attorney has mailed Premium processing TN -renewal application and attorney have received the email on May 17th that My TN is approved. Here are the few questions:
1) How long does it take to get the Official Hard Copy of Approval Notice in the mail after the approval notice email. ? (1-2 weeks) ?

2) My current TN doesn't expire until Sept,2009. When I get the hard copy of approval notice, do I have to active the new TN or can I travel back to the USA on my old TN until the expiry date of old TN ?

3) I assume when I cross the border with approved TN-renewal, I have to get stamp in my passport and new I-94. What Kind questioning should I expect when I active my approved TN? would I be still scrutinized again even with approved TN?

Thanks

There are others on here quite capable of responding so I will just answer part (c).

The questioning might vary depending on the officer involved. Some Free Trade Officers have asked:

"How long have you been on TN?" (Of course the longer that is may prompt further scrutiny.)

"Have you ever been arrested?"

"Are you going to stay on TN?"

Hopefully you get the picture.

I doubt you would be scrutinized further with the approved TN unless it is a borderline case or similar where maybe there was chance your eligibility was being questioned.
