Thanks Reba...I get your point.

But should I touch base with them regarding the two identical AP documents then?

LOL...

And yes you should touch base with them. What you could do maybe is visit the U.S. consulate office get your answers directly from there regrding the proper filing of AP if there is one close to you. That way when you are travelling you'll know exactly what to do and you won't have complications at the border. I've done it before and it's worked for me. But this was in regards to my student visa and not a pending immigrant petition.

jayz, IIRC, you sent in your application, and then it was taking longer than you wanted it to, so you went to the USCIS to inquire about it right? It is possible that your inquiry prompted a second AP document to be processed, if they for some reason couldn't find record of the original.

Do they have the same processed dates and expiration dates on them?

well.....I'm writing this message at the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge at YYZ's US Departures section.

I presented my papers to the immigration officer. We chatted and then he asked me to go to secondary inspection to get "processed". I had no idea what to expect...but sure enough, the officer asked: why do you have only one document. You should bring both of them.

But he really nice and processed my papers in a jiffy with a big smile.

All in all, the experience was pleasant and nothing to report. I've seen and heard that entering the US on an AP could be a hassle...But my fist experience is extremely smooth...heck it was better than entering the US as a Canadian visitor.
