Advice for first time mover?

Postby kolkol » Tue Sep 15, 2009 3:59 pm

Hi all,

Let me start by saying that I am a British Citizen (through my Father) so I'm sure that'll make a difference in a lot of things.

I'm planning on moving to the UK soon, and its my first time even moving out of my parent's house (Big first time move, eh?) Anyways, I was wondering a few things...Being a Citizen, will i have many problems opening a bank account, with say Barclays, or would it still be advisable to go through Lloyds as I've seen on here?

Also, seeing as its the first time living on my own, what am I to do if I have no references as per renting a flat? Will they still let me do it, or am I in trouble? Further, if I can't find a job initially, but am sitting on a whack of money that could sustain me for say 6-8 months, would they still let me rent?

I appreciate all your answers and further advice you may have!

hi,

Don't know about the bank issue, but you should be ok for a flat. They will probably ask you to pay the 6m at the start though, rather than you just showing them that you have the money.
