Hi, my girlfriend lives in Canada and is a Canadian resident. I am from the UK and we have been dating for the past 2 years. I've been to see her 7 times in the past 12 months (that's a lot of airplanes!). We're planning to get married and I have been looking at getting a Skilled Worker Visa, which I qualify for job wise. My problem now is my girlfriend is pregnant. It's not a problem as such, it's just confusing and worrying. Are there any other Visa's applicable for my case of having a Canadian child? I'm not trying to take an "easy route" to get a Visa, I'm simply trying to work out my best option as I need to take care, support and be there for both my child and girlfriend financially and emotionally. I'm worried that if I should take the Skilled Workers Program and then lose my job (thinking of worst case scenario), I will get kicked out the country and my girlfriend and child would have no support from myself. Any information would be great as I need to get the ball rolling fast. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.

Why not have your girlfriend, soon to be wife sponsor you for a spouse visa?

Here's the CIC website link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/index.asp

And a very helpful message forum for Canadian immigration http://roadtocanada.com/
