Hi!

I need some advice here! Im from Canada and I came to the Uk with a fiance visa to get married to my boyfriend. We will do so in March. Ive started to do some research about what im supposed to do afterwards. Obviously, i am planning on staying here to live with my boyfriend. I have checked a few websites and all its says is that i need to apply for a 2 year extension visa, like a marriage visa. But now ive seen on other websites that i need to go back to Canada in order to apply for that marriage visa! I thought i could apply for it over here! It would cost me the return ticket, plus the cost the visa! I was only hoping that someone who has been through all this could help me and assure me that there is another way!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

Thank you for you time!

Hello

This is a quote from the UK visa website for fiancee visa:
"When you are married or have registered a civil partnership, you can apply for a two-year extension to your visa and, if your application is granted, you will be allowed to work."

So once you are married ( you are supposed to do it before a 6 months period after you received your fiancee visa) you apply for a 2 year extension and because you fiancee visa is still valid, you can apply from within the UK.(If you wait to long before you get married then you visa may be invalid and you would then have to apply from Canada).

hope this helps

THANK you so much for the reply! It does help a lot! I still have one more question as for applying for the marriage visa. For the fiance visa i could apply online. I cant seem to find the same service for the marriage visa. I was wondering If its possible to do so online. Otherwise i'll try to get an application form somewhere.

THanks for your help again!
