Age Problem

Post Tue Aug 30, 2011 12:59 pm

I am interested in working abroad particularly the UK or Rep. of Ireland... every thing I find however has to do with assisting those under the age of 30. I'm quite put out about it, I'm 37... this is a bit of an archaic way of doing things. Anyway beyond that, I guess I'm on my own in finding a job etc. since I'm so aged (lol)... but am stumped as to where to start. I've thought of looking at embassy sites in Canada and desired countries. I had thought it was easy for commonwealth citizens to work in England, but I guess that is no longer the case? Anyway over 30 out there who managed to go live and work abroad without all the mystery? Thanks in advance!! Astrid.

It would seem to me that at your age, your should not even be looking in the same job classes with under-30's(ie. level jobs).Countries usu. assist younger workers because they don't have the connections that older workers do.

Find similar companies as the one you are currently (or used to work for if you've been laid-off)with or companies similar to their customers, and look for the job that is equivalent to your current boss's job.

That'll weed out the 30-yr-olds.
