All in my family have a greencard...but me. Where to start?

Hi all, this is my post here. I searched but couldn't find the info I was seeking. Currently, my fiance is in the hospitality industry and there is potential for her to work in the U.S. in the future. The company she works for is massive and international and will no trouble handling her paperwork. I am seeking information for myself though.

I am from a family of 4. 2 Parents 1 sibling, all of witch have had green cards since 1976. They were obtained while considering a family move to the south. I was born in '77 and subsequently my family never left Canada. I guess my question is, if all of my direct family have a green card, will it be less of a headache for me to get one? If so, where do I begin? In the even that it would normally be helpful for my family to all be card holders, will the fact that they all live and work in Canada negate that advantage? I'm a little lost on the subject.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, after 30 years, I'm fairly certain that your family's green cards have expired by now, and that they never actually used them to relocate to the US, they would have no basis on your own future application.

You could try a quick visit to an immigration lawyer for a consult to be sure, and to go over your options, but I'm guessing that with the new immigration laws and whatnot, you're on your own.

Are you actually planning to move to the US because your fiancee is in fact being transferred, or are you just thinking that it may be an option in future just because its there?
