Hi everyone, I just need a bit of nudging in the right direction on this subject. My wife and I have been married for 4 years, and we wed at 18 and 19. Thusfar our relationship has been spent in this manner: I live in Toronto for a few months, then in the states. Simple.

But I need to be able to work, study, and stay in Toronto with my wife, or there isn't much hope for our marriage. We've been too busy staying afloat to dedicate as much time as is needed to do the proper research, and neither her family nor mine are willing or able to help.

So, for me to return to Canada (I'm currently state-side) and work, what is the first step, and in what direction is that step?

We're going through some strong emotions over our current separation and fear it may be the last if we don't get ourselves together.

I assume you are the US citizen. She needs to sponsor you for permanent residency, it's pretty straightforward, the instructions are on the CIC website.

Check out the forums at Road to Canada for others in similar situations who may be able to offer some advice on how the process works.
