Ancestry Visa and Spouse?

Post Mon Jan 07, 2008 1:37 am

Hi, I am planning on applying for my British ancestry visa in a bit. I have already had a WHV in 2001 when I worked in Scotland.
I am now married and want to make the move to the UK with my husband. Is he covered under my Ancestry Visa? If so, can he work there?

I couldn't seem to find any clear answers when searching so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks. :)

I'm not 100% sure on this.

Is the info on spouses on the UKvisas site and if I'm reading it correctly it sounds possible that he ought to be able to join you there. HOWEVER it's also completely possible that they wouldn't let him join you until you have indefinate leave to remain which you wouldn't be able to attain until you have been in the uk for about 5 years. I'm certain that is out of the question.

My suggestion would be to call the british consulate in ottawa's support line even though it costs alot, to clarify the issue.

Sorry I can't help more!
