Ancestry Visa

Post Tue Nov 08, 2011 7:14 pm

Hey,

So I know this question is asked a million times in here, but I thought I'd ask it again since applying for a visa to the UK, as you may know, is kind of a stressful process!

I'm wondering about support funds - specifically, if you've applied, been approved and have gone a similar route as I'm about to describe, it would be great if you could tell me it worked for you. I'm planning to move my support funds into a separate savings account and accumulate it kind of quickly, like in a 2-3 month period. What I'm wondering is, since they ask for bank records, is this going to work, or will they not like that? It was fine when I applied for my working holiday visa a few years back but I'm not sure if they're looking for more stability for this visa? Or if it's just as easy? I went with $4000 Canadian as support funds back then, and am assuming that will still be fine - unless someone wants to tell me otherwise?

Any advice you can give me would be great!! Thanks!

You should keep your money where it is as UKBA indeed look for more statibility with this type of visa. They will look at your global financial situation for the past few months as opposed to the Tier 5 YMS application for which it's required to have the funds on the date of application only.

Thanks for that. Do you know how many months they look? 3 or 4, or more?

Thanks again!

Great, thanks. And can I just confirm one last thing. When they are looking for stability in the past 6 months, they aren't expecting that I would have had my support fund all that time, correct. What they would be looking for is employment, and constant income - that I haven't had to access public funds in Canada?

There's no minimum funds to show when applying for non-PBS employment visas. You just have to show that "you can adequately support and accommodate yourself and your dependants without help from public funds".

Thanks again so much for your help. I was wondering as wel, in the actual applicant it asks for your Employer's number - I wasn't planning to tell my employer prior to recieving the visa, but will they contact my employer to verify, do you know? Might be best to give them a heads up!

Thanks!

You have to provide your employer's contact details as they may check if you're really employed with them. Therefore, it might be a good idea to inform your employer of your intentions before you submit your application.

Hi there, again... I have another question for you. I have slight concerns in the stability of bank statements. I have returned home from a working holiday in Australia this summer, and while I have been employed the entire time, the statements aren't really the best looking. I've been with my current employer for 6 months now and by the time I apply it will be about 8 and I'll have 4 months of quite good looking bank statements as I intend to save up around $4500 before leaving the country. Basically, I'm just wondering how strict they are - I know people who have gone on them right after working holidays, so I think it might be ok?
I was also wondering typically how long it takes to approve if you know?

Thanks for your help!
