Hey there,

I think there's a lot of Canadians in Portugal. When I was there I stayed at a hostel called FrankMan's hostel or something like that. Frank, is a Portuguese-Canadian (born in Canada, but moved to Portugal as a kid).

I've got friends here that have family there as well, so I'm sure you'll find some Canadians there. A lof of people work in the Algarve area in teh resorts and stuff too.

Cool, nice to know. I'm looking at making the move to the Algarve area, so that's a plus.

Hi Al! I've been living in Faro for 2 years now. My boyfriend and I are musicians here. I love it, only the cities are a bit small, having lived in Vancouver and Montreal. It lacks metropolitanism, and the culture is a bit closed-off. I haven't made too many Portuguese friends, but there are lots of foreigners to befriend, of course. I don't know if I can advise anything specific for you. The standard of living is much cheaper, (groceries, travel, etc) but we haven't bought real estate so I'm not sure how that rates. I've been on a permanent pleasure-high though. The Algarve is so beautiful and having a car makes you feel you can really enjoy little bit of it. Beaches are swimmable, outdoors feel cleaner. More sun is always good. Feel free to get in touch at any time! Emily
