Anyone else in NC? I married a local and moved here from the GTA about 5 months ago. I'm bored out of my freakin mind!

Reba,
I just discovered this site. Today is Canada Day and needless to say I'm stuck here in Raleigh, NC and feeling awfully homesick and was looking for other Canadians in North Carolina. I technically am not Canadian. I was born American and raised in Ottawa and moved down here a couple of years ago. I still haven't adjusted to southern life. Have a few friends. They are either American or from abroad. They're very nice, but sometimes they don't understand what I'm talking about. Let me know if you want to chat about home. I look forward to hearing from you.

Do you ever get sick of some of this Southern stuff?

I'm in Charlotte NC, married a man from the area, southern born and raised. I'm originally from Manitoba and then from Calgary, AB. I moved here last Sept. and we lived together until we married in June this year. A get to know each other period before the big committment. Have not been able to work of course, should get a SS by end of this year. Cleaning house, volunteer work, made a few friends but they all work, so alone a lot. Bored to death and getting fed up.

So if one more stupid southerner asks me something about "where I come from" and then says "this is the south and we don't give a damn how you did it up north". IE: a touque is a toboggan here. Yes they call knitted touques, toboggans.

Is there any Canadian get togethers any where in North Carolina?
