Hi!

I've used The MI Group and have been really happy with them. I have worked with the Montreal branch, but they're everywhere. I had a shared container as I didn't have too much stuff to move (not too little either). In fact they underestimated the volume but since I had made it clear what my limit was (would have been happy to leave stuff behind), they accepted it was their mistake and I was not charged extra. One of my side tables was broken during the move (it can be fixed), but the insurance paid right away, no problem there (a digital photo emailed to them was enough).

The only problem with a shared container is that you may have to wait for quite a while.. since they have to find someone else who goes to Australia. Having said that, if you have less than one container, you may want to get a whole container anyway as the difference in price is not that great.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Costwise... you need to take into account the fact that furniture in Australia is expensive. It depends on what you're happy to settle for, of course.

Just to give you an idea.. it cost me about CAD5000 to move from Montreal to Sydney and about AUD4000 to move from Sydney to Melbourne. I'd say the Canadian prices are very decent.

Another thing... even if you move for work, you can't use that towards your tax in Australia. At least that's what my accountant said. I hope it's true as I'd be very annoyed otherwise!
