I just travelled through Slovakia this summer digging up "famly roots". (from Bratislava to Kocise -- a lovely country and certainly a unique experience.

Hi everyone, I am also living in Bratislava. I was born in Ontario Canada, lived in New York for 8 years and now am here in Bratislava with my boyfriend who was originally born here and after a trip in 2007 decided to move back. I'm hoping to find some people who speak english. I would also be interested in taking Slovak lessons but would love a fellow english speaking / non slovak speaking person to go with ;) (yeah call me chicken .. that's okay heh) Anyway, if anyone is interested, feel free to post or pm.

Hi Booboula,
I hope you found a language learning partner. Good for you for digging in and wanting to learn the local language.

Hey there,

My name is Jozef. I was born in Canada but my grandfather is from Jasenie, Slovakia... a small town. He passed away in 1984 but now I am very interested in exploring my roots. Does anyone have any information on something like an ancestry visa so that I can move to Slovakia and spend a lot of time there, rather than just a short vacation.

Thanks so much for your help!
