Anyone traveling with a Greyhound KM pass?

Ok so this whole backpacking thing is new to me. My best friend and I are heading to Sydney on the 20th from Toronto. She will be taking teachers college in Wollongong and I plan on backpacking up the east coast starting in SYD and ending in Cairns. I am traveling with a Greyhound kilometre pass which includes 25 nights at YHA hostels. Just wondering if anyone has any feedback on this bus package.
