Apply Cambodia Visa Online?

Apply Cambodia Visa Online?

Postby jenniferl » Fri Jun 22, 2007 12:59 am

I plan to visit Cambodia this year and did a google on Cambodia Visa. It leads me to a site where Visa could be applied online, without going to the embassy. I'm pretty new to traveling around, especially this part of the world. Has anyone used this online Visa system for Cambodia? Just would like a second tought on this. Seems like it works and save a lot of hassles.

Hello Jeni,
I used both system. The first time I went to Cambodia, I got my visa straight at the Siem Reap airport, I only had to wait like 20 minutes for the entire process. The second time, i use the online form and skipped the visa line queue and went straight to the custom desk. The funny part is that I had to wait outside the airport in the hotel van for the other guest going at the same hotel who didn't have their online visa. go figure.

Hey Sampik, thanks for sharing! U make me figure this out easy! From someone who used both system it's very much fair to judge, guess u must be both happy and frustrated while waiting in the hotel van. :) Happy for getting so fast passing thru the visa line, and frustrated cuz even though u were fast, u still gotta wait! I feel for u :)

Guess u made it quite clear tat the online Visa application would be a better solution to Cambodia. thanks for the tips!

You can get a Cambodian visa at most borders to the country. I believe they are about $25US but I may be wrong. When we went I got mine on a dugout floating up the Mekong River so it seems quite easy to get one!

e-visa is easier and more convenient.
for me, i'd rather apply online to save my precious time over there and perhaps can prevent visa scams.

visit their official website for more info.

Visas for Cambodia

Postby longmudg » Thu Jul 31, 2008 6:07 pm

The e-visa webpage is down at the moment,so the only way to get a visa before leaving Canada is to apply to the Embassy in Washington (there is no Embassy in Ottawa and the Vancouver Honorary Consul does not issue visas). Google the Cambodian Embassy for further info.

By far the best way to get a visa is still to do it on arrival. If you fly in, you get an application form on board along with immig and customs forms. If you're going overland, you'll get it at the border crossing. Fill it in, attach a small photo (passport size) and hand it in with your passport at the visa on arrival line. When you get the passport back, give the agent US$20. And avoid like the plague the online "facilitators" like the one in Vancouver ("Embassy Link"). You will find the Cambodian officials, on the whole, friendly and helpful. Enjoy.
