Apply for TN at small crossing before flying down for job?

When you are applying for a TN they may ask if you are reporting directly to your job. If so they expect you to enter immediately. I think this non-written requirement is not rational but could be applied.Therefore be prepared in that sense and your employer also.It's all a quesyion of intent. Peace Arch do have this requirement. If you have the appropriate qualifications for this position I think it could be straigh forward in YVR

Thanks for making me aware of this. Now, I am considering flying from Vancouver (YVR) airport 2 weeks before the joining date. This will allow me to find a place and set up my accounts.

As mentionned you may be asked if you are reporting immediately to your job and according to what you've mentionned your not. therefore it would be importan to have an immediat activity to attend such as orientation or a meeting wiith your team at least.the employer should also be aware if ever they call
