Applying for a YMV outside of Canada

Post Sun Sep 25, 2011 11:31 am

Hello,

Aplogies first if this issue has already been addressed. I am a Canadian citizen residing in the Netherlands for the last 4 years. I am considering moving to London on a YMV and when I was back home visiting Canada during the summer I was told that I could apply for this in any country that I reside in. (Later I realized that there was a lot of fine print attached to the response, that the response was an auto-reply, and that my question wasn't really answered).

It seems as though I AM eligible to apply for the YMV through the UK embassy in the Netherlands, but can anyone confirm or deny this? And if it is possible to apply, does anyone know how long it takes?

Thanks for any help and cheers!

found this info for you from a similar question posted elesewhere

"Basically you can apply from another country if there is an office of the UK Border Agency where you will be able to go and get your fingerprints done. However to be able to apply from a country different from your passport one, you must have a valid long-term visa for this country and you must have already spent 6 months there before you submit your application for the UK Youth Mobility visa"

Suggest that you make an on line YMS application - you should be OK

Good luck

the process has been as little as a week to 30 days - its really quick

The biometrics appointment is the usual delay

Make sure that you have your ducks lined up & sufficient money - more the better

Again - good luck
