Applying for UK Ancestry Visa

Post Tue Dec 06, 2011 10:32 am

Hi Everyone,

I have recently decided to pursue my dream of relocating to England to live and work for a period of time. My Grandfather was born in the UK I should qualify for a Ancestry Visa. I have the following questions about the process:

1) I have all birth certificates necessary and marriage licences, although I am not sure if they are in fact long form? my father's and mine are about the size of something you could fit in you wallet..... my grandfather's is also small but a little larger than my dad's. How do I know if they are longform or not?

2) I am still currently employed here in Canada but am working with a recruiter in the UK who is looking for jobs for me. Do I include that company on the application? will they contact them ? I haven't told them about myself looking for another job.

3) Financially I make a good salary with my current company but do have some debt......I do also own a condo in which I plan to rent out when I move over to the UK. I only have about 800$ showing in my account but have a credit card with lots of room...... the reason I have only that much showing is that I pay down my mortgage with the bulk of my pay each pay day.... is this alright to send in ?

4) I was thinking of making the move within 3 months time but my recruiter has told me to have the Visa in hand while he is searching for jobs for me right now. Is it OK to apply a few months before I intend to quit my job and take on a new one in the UK?

I apologize if this has been asked before here but I just really wanted to clear this up!

Thanks in advance :)

Josh

1. the definition of "long form" means that it has at least your birth parents full names on it. Many Cdns have the old "credit card" style birth certs, which are not acceptable. Grandad's birth cert should be a stamped/sealed copy of the page out of the civil registry where he was born.

Thanks Agnelson

The one for my grandad is the original but doesn't indicate who his parents are.......it is titled Certificate of Regristry of Birth......so you are are saying I need to order something else?

Ya you have to have the long form. I had to email a company in England to find my grandmothers. It has her name and both her parents, the place she was born.

As for the long form BC you have to apply for them through the gov't of Ontario. I tried to apply for the small credit card one and the lady at Worldbridge said that if I did that, I would get turned down right away. You have to prove that you are related to your grandparent.
