Applying online for the WHM.

Post Thu Aug 21, 2008 7:45 pm

I'm having trouble at the very beginning of the application - what are you supposed to put for the kind of visa you are looking for? None of the options seem to describe the WHM. It's the part under 'purpose of visit'. Do I put 2 year visit? Will they automatically make that the WHM?

I tried asking world bridge and they said they couldn't answer that question. Ugh.

Thanks!

Hi Cindylou,

I don't know if the terminology has changed but certainly the gov't websites tend to use a different language to describe various applications.

From what I've seen, if you intend to stay longer than 6 months in the UK you need to look under the resident or working section

ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visitingtheuk

I have not generated enough posts to have a link but copy and paste the above site to a new window and click on Working. From there you will see a link for Temporary Workers and a list. WHM is amongst them and hope you will find what you need to know there. Good luck.
Whoever said Vancouver rains all the time has never been to Bath. ;)

Thanks!

I guess what I really need to know is whether it is okay to use the pdf version of the VAF2 form, or if you are required to use the visa4uk web application - because that application seems to lack a clear WHM option?

I filled my WHM application online and if I remember correctly, you have to choose 'Work' option. I think the next option asks you if you want a work permit or a WHM.

I think I have the application saved as a .pdf back at home, I could check it out and let you know.
