Hello anyone who is visiting, working or going to school in Athens. My daughter Courtney, who is 21 just left a week ago on a 5 week modeling contract to Athens, Greece. We live in a small town outside of Victoria, BC, and she is finding Athens overwhelmingly huge. The problem she is having is that she is finding it difficult to find her way around. She is spending 10 hours or more on the busses going to castings, and is lost every day. The other problem she is having is that most of the models she is living with are European and all know each other. She is basically left out of the loop if you know what I mean, and since she has no one to pal around with, is feeling very lost and lonely there. She already wants to come home after only a week. She went such a long way to get there, I think it would be a shame for her to leave already. She was hoping there would be another young person to go sightseeing, shopping, the beach, etc., but none of these other girls are interested. I think she would probably enjoy this city more if she had a buddy to do something with. At the moment, she is spending much of her time in her room alone. She is really a sweet, friendly, nice girl too, so I can't understand this. I also hoped this would be a trip of a lifetime for her, and she was so excited. If anyone has any ideas where she could catch up with other young Canadians in Athens, or give her any advice to help her, I would be so appreciative. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Carol. Sad [/b]

Hey there,

Tell her to hang in there. I know what it can be like, she'll get used to it after a little while once she gets used to finding her way around and stuff. I'm from Victoria and know what a culture shock it can be Smile

Try posting your message in some of the other boards, as more people might see it there (like the Canucks in Europe thread).

Good luck!
