Back to Canada from US: Do the schools compare...?

If we travel or live abroad, we usually come back to visit right? Here's a the place to meet other "re-pats" and Canadians who have returned.

Back to Canada from US: Do the schools compare...?

Post Mon Jan 04, 2010 12:50 pm

Hi every and anyone.

After living in the US for for over three years, I have been extremely impressed with my 3rd grader's school and their approach to teaching. I have definately seen the results with my third graders State Achievement Test results -she scored 100% and was the only one at her level to do so. Anyway, my concern is whether or not I should be worried in moving back to the Toronto region, will her development suffer or be impacted? I know this sounds ludicrous on the surface, but have any other parents out there had similiar concerns? How have they dealt with it? Any advice? How does one even go about comparing a Canadian elementary school to an American one??

Thanks for your replies.....
Concerned parent.

Don't quote me on this, but I've always been told that Canadian schools are above and beyond US schools in terms of material covered (especially in the Math and Science subjects).

This may very well be a biased view, seeing as all of my education has taken place in Canada. I do know for a fact that Canadian Engineers are sought after in the US because of the schooling they receive.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I wouldn't be worried about the quality of education your child will receive here. It should be as good, if not better.
