Backpack Amsterdam & Work

Backpack Amsterdam & Work

Postby justinmeltz » Thu Jul 31, 2008 8:52 am

Hi everyone!

My question is a two part question. I have been living the same routine for the past 5 years of college. I hate it! I am also not too fond of the political happenings in NA right now and need a break from this type of life.

I have the urge to fly to Amsterdam next year for an unplanned amount of time and would like to work my way through my trip. It could be a month long of just sightseeing and backpacking, or it could be a new residency. What are the steps I need to take to ensure I do not get into trouble working abroad (ie. Visa, etc.). I also would like to know if there are any contacts or sites I can check out for jobs in Amsterdam for the traveler. I wouldn't mind being a porter or something in a bar. I am sure in some places language will be a bit difficult, so positions which do not require me to know dutch right away would be great.

Also, any information pertaining to train, bus, plane, bike travel in Holland or hostels to stay at or look out for. Basically any info or insight would be great!

Thanks!

Justin
