Baku Azerbaijan, hotel

COUNTRY, TRADITIONS: Azerbaijan is secular country, but the religion does not prevail over international and internal activities. A lot of beautiful regions, great flora and fauna, places to visit: Ateshgax, Mud Volcanos, Gobustan. Azeri people are very polite, kind and helpful, they revere their traditions as religious so family. They like to celebrate national holidays.

CAPITAL: Baku -is the gates from Europe to Asia, the biggest port of the Caspian Sea.

It is modern and safe city, especially in the centre, a lot of new subways, bridges and skyscrapers, there is great reconstructure of roads, old architectural buildings, theatres, opened a lot of new schools and museums (especially in Azerbaijan regions).By the way, sometimes you feel yourself as if you are in any small European city: a lot of foreigners (tourists and expatriates), a lot of foreign business centers, companies, restaurants, pubs and boutiques etc…

TRAFFIC- Of course – subway. Cheap, quick and comfortable. There are three central metro stations: 28 of May (area of Railway Station-Vokzal), Sahil (area of Torgovaya street and Fountain Square), Baksoviet (area of Old City and Maiden Tower). All these stations place in parallel with Boulevard.

Price is 15 gapiks. Then goes – buses. Not always comfortable, cos most of them are small marshrutkas for 10-12 seats, you can go in it only in sitting position. But the drivers stop everywhere, even in the middle of the road, even there is no any empty seat. Price is 20 gapik. Though, because of oil/petrol price increasing in 2010 year, the prices’ve changed.

TO HAVE A RET – places to see and walk – It is especially beautiful in Boulevard in the evening. Of course, you have to visit, Old City, Torgovaya str., Fountain Square. Places of interest not far from Baku - Ateshgax, Mud Volcanos, Gobustan.

ACCOMMODATION in Baku

HOTELS – A lot of tourists, planning their trip to any country, think about: what is cheaper – to stay at any hotel or to rent daily apartment. Concerning Azerbaijan, I’ve understood, that is cheaper to rent an apartment. Why? I am explaining: Looking through the Internet, I was shocked, the prices in Baku hotels are higher than in Paris. For information – when I’ve been in France, I stayed at hotel in Opera block by 40 euro per night. In Baku I did not find such price. So I decided to rent daily apartment. Through the searching system, I have found several real estate agencies.. Making a request to these companies, I was offered apartments in the centre of Baku by 100 AZN per night (the same price as in hotels). As you understand, such price hits tourist in his pocket.

CHEAP DAILY APARTMENT IN Baku– I decided to rent a daily apartement in Baku. In BakuRealEstate.net was offered the apartment in the centre of Baku by 35-45 AZN per night. Of course, at first the low price embarrassed me, but I was offered free of charge apartment’s preview and I decided to try. Anyway, if I did not like the apartment, I’d stay at any hotel. But, thanks God, everything was ok and the apartment was quite well: in several minutes walking from Fountain Square, with all necessary facilities by 35 AZN per night.

FOOD – I can advise: gutabs (with meat and green), different kinds of dolma (from grapes leaves and stuffed pepper/tomato/aubergine) and different kinds of kababs ( sturgeon, potato, tomato, aubergine, and from meat: lula-kabab, tika-kabab), buglama (soup with big piece of meat), fried hen-lavangi (hen stuffed with walnut and pomegranate).

And a lot of different delicious sweets: pakhlava, sheker-bura, gogal (better to buy in Cudo Pechka)
