Bank Loans For a Canadian in USA

Postby cgishack » Mon Oct 22, 2007 4:27 pm

Hello,
I will be working in Buffalo and living in Canada in about 1 month.
I currently live in New York and will be transferring to be closer to loved ones.

I have been in the USA working for over a year always under TN visas.
I would like to now start to buy things like a car or a house in Canada.

I am wondering if anyone knows what options i have to help get me a bank loan in Canada to assist with my purchases.

The last time I applied for a credit card in the USA i got declined because i have no US credit. I am now working with my US bank to develop credit.

I bought a car 5 months ago and was not able to get a loan in both Canada or the USA because in Canada i did not show income and in the USA i had no credit. I had to go to family for the loan instead.

Does anyone know and good companies in Canada or Banks that will recognize my USA income and will be able to provide me a reasonable loan?

Any help would be appreciated.

He said i needed Canadian income to get a loan with them :(

For financing here are some thoughts to help:
1.Financing a car through a auto manufacturer's financial division is usually much easier

When you are looking for a car in Canada talk to the dealership to see if manufacturing financing is available. You may be able to work with them to recognize your US income.

2. CIBC has relationships with Bank of America -- and they may be able to look at your US credit to give you a loan.

For future planning to build your Canadian credit, since you'll be residing in Canada, working for a US company - you'll be filing Canadian income tax -- so ensure that you:
1. are consistently depositing money into your canadian accounts from your paychecks.
2. obtain Canadian credit cards

good luck!
