I've confirmed all banking infor 20 times in 3 days. Help.!

I use Customhouse.com to electronically transfer (EFT) $$ from my Presidents choice account to my USA bank account. Free to set up, top notch customer service, and NO FEES if u do it EFT! I'm positive they can do it from USA to canada. Takes a few days to set up the acct as you have to send them info; such as 2 pieces of ID, ur bank info. You can mail it in, fax it in OR scan and email it in via there secure server. Plus they do a quick phone interview for security reasons. Its a very easy process setting up. EFT are extremely easy as well and NO FEES! I was getting much better exchange rate with them than what I was getting at the bank. A transaction takes 3 to 4 business days. They do Wire services as well, but that isnt free! If u have ny probs, they are easily reached via phone or email. There head office is in Victoria BC, down by the waterfront, used to walk by it often when I resided there. Best of luck.

this is a really late reply,
and you probably won't like the advice:

get a BigEvilBank(TM) account. CIBC (mine) and the other bigs (I imagine) have nifty little shadow accounts (maybe a banker can explian it better) in Big US institutions like BOA. I do DOMESTIC ABA wire to this BofA acct in NewYork from my credit union and then the money goes on from there. There is an extra space on the wire form that tells BOA/CIBC which acct to send it on to. Domestic fees too. Money there in 24 hrs in one case, 2 days in another.

We had a TD Bank account when we moved to the US, so we just got a TD Waterhouse account. TD Waterhouse was an internet-only bank which was perfect for us. Plus I didn't need an SSN for it, which took over 3 months to get (long sordid story of US government incompetence). All the local banks needed an SSN. TD Waterhouse was happy with my Canadian SIN.

We were able to transfer money back and forth between our US and Canadian banks with just a phone call and the bank's conversion fee (which you end up paying no matter how you transfer money). Transfers took place the next business day.

Fortunately when TD Bank became TD Canada Trust nothing changed.

However, this year TD Waterhouse became TD Banknorth and it's quite different (service is worse, to be honest). We got rid of our TD Canada Trust account before the change though, so I don't know if you can transfer money between TD Banknorth and TD Canada Trust. But it's worth looking into.

FYI we are probably going to switch from TD Banknorth to Netbank soon, since we have no reason to stay with them and their higher fees, and they are less internet oriented than TD Waterhouse was. (Fees are probably still lower than a full brick-and-mortar bank, though.)

RBC and RBC Centura (in the US) have a feature that allows you to have accounts under a single web sign-on and transfer between them. I've only used the transfer feature once, but it seemed to work ok. Decent exchange rate and no service charge.

We were able to wire money from Desert Schools Credit Union (our branch is in Arizona) to RBC. It cost $30. We now mail cheques to our RBC account every month to pay for RRSP, student loans, etc, and we use REGULAR, US Postal Service mail. I was going to FED EX it once, and the cost was over $100, there were tons of forms to fill out, and I just used regular mail for the cost of a stamp.
