Banking in Kenya - Need Advice

Hi,

Can anyone help me out with banking info in Kenya - specifically Nairobi?

My wife and I are going to be in Nairobi for about 1-year. We're not sure how best to use and deal with money. We don't want to be carrying around large amounts with us but aren't in Kenya long enough to really want to open a bank account there. Any advice?

Also, does anyone have experience with trying to use Canadian bank cards in Kenya ATM's? I have heard that some are better than others - has anyone had success with this at all?
