Hello All,

I am new to this site, and don't know if anyone on here is currently in Barbaods, or has been previously; but figured I'd give it a try.

My wife and I have recently moved to Barbados, and are trying to purchase a new or used vehicle. Does anyone have suggestions on website, of expats who are leaving the island selling their vehicles, or suggestions of reputable used car websites, or dealerships?

I have found a couple, just don't know how trustworthy they are.

Thanks, and look forward to your responses.

Mark

Been a long while but I had a friend who lived there years ago and he told me he imported a car from the USVI because they also drive on the left. Tried doing it from the UK but it was too complicated to get it there. Apparently there is a better selection of dealers on the USVI.

I have come to realize that, should I return after having been away from my homeland, my country of birth its nostalgic connections, the objects of my patriotic projections, the homeland itslef cares little for me or my loyalty. The idea, then, that I belong to a place, and that that place in turn belongs to me, merely exposes me to disappointment, and conditions me to contest for and die over a fiction, which, by its very nature, denies and defies belonging.

Hello,

Ah, a fellow Canuck here in BGI. Very cool.

Lots of places for purchasing a car. Be prepared - they are very expensive, regardless of condition. The Nation has a good selection in their classifieds both in print and online. We ended up buying one from a rental car company, which may or may not have been a good idea. But it's running well so far.

If you can pay cash outright, that will be much easier. Getting credit as a foreigner here is nearly impossible. If you have a Bajan friend who can shop with you, take them. Otherwise, you might get hosed on the price.

Good luck! Where are you? We're in ChCh.
