Email to the programme:

I am greatly disappointed in the simplistic question posed to the listeners. I believe it was something along the lines of "Do immigrants give or take?"

More disheartening was the then current result of 85% believing that immigrants take from Britain. As an immigrant who pays taxes and national insurance contributions yet remains ineligible for any public funds, I resent the ignorance of the results and the blatant pandering of the BBC to such beliefs with these questions.

When I have questioned acquaintances concerning their anti-immigration stance, I am always assured that they are not talking about me. The fact that I'm white, speak English and work, makes me acceptable to these people.

yay for me.

I'm not bothered.

I get more flack for being a "french-canadian" and I don't care about that either.

People around me see my contribution and appreciate it.

You know what he said.... "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

That's why I get bothered.
