Beautiful Bulgaria - any Canadians here?

Post Wed Mar 12, 2008 10:10 pm

I'm in Bulgaria for the next couple of months, and I was wondering whether there are any other Canadians here.

I think I could use a little advice, sometimes! :-D

Thanks!

Well, there are Bulgarians in Canada :)

But we really miss our country. I know it's very beautiful there, so enjoy the time there. Be careful of gypsies, taxi drivers, thieves . Last few years, the things have changed a lot and people there live on the edge and unfortunately this had a direct influence on their life.

Frankly, if things are going to change, I'm immediately buying one way ticket to go back home. There is not beautiful place like this . Even Vancouver (with the mountains, ocean views, etc.) doesn't seem to be a big deal. I don't want to discuss the crappy houses we do have here in Canada, or the winter's cold and lack of sun.

If there are any questions, feel free to ask. Hope not to be very busy and to have time to help.

Hi Pagan! Hi Alexi!

I thank you both for your advice and offers. In the short term, I'd like to find someone to speak with. in Canada, there would be places where I could post a flyer, offering someone help with their English/French in exchange for the opportunity to speak with them in Bulgarian. I wonder - is there a method for doing this here? Should I put an ad in the newspaper? If you have any ideas, I would appreciate your help.

Yes, you are right that there is more sun and more warmth here in Bulgaria than in Canada, at this time of the year! :-) The last snow left the day I arrived here, one month ago. And since my arrival, my home in Canada has received another 80cm of snow. :-) But truthfully, I enjoy the Canadian Winter very much . there is nothing in the world like the night sky on a -20Celsius night. the stars never seem so bright and so near! And the moonlight glinting off the snow, the howl of the wolves. magic! :-)

I want to see more of Bulgaria, in the next 2 months. And the weather is perfect for travelling. But until I can speak a little better, I think that might be difficult. again, any advice is welcome and appreciated!

Hi Rhesus,
I don`t think an ad in the newspaper is a good idea  Be very careful!
Do you have any Bulgarian co-workers or friends? If yes, you better practice your Bulgarian with them.

Once again ,if you need anything just let me know, would be glad to help :)
