becoming a canadian citizen through father?

Post Tue Jul 21, 2009 4:22 pm

my question:

my dad is a canadian citizen. he was born there and at about 2 years old moved with family to the USA. he has been here ever since with his green card. he never become a US citizen. i am 26 years old and i was wondering if i can become a canadian citizen through my dad?

there is so much red tape about moving between canada and the usa and it is so ridiculous.

anyways, thanks for any help.

Yes, you likely have Canadian citizenship by descent. You'll need to apply for a citizenship certificate to be able to apply for a Canadian passport, etc.
