Best place to live in Europe

Best place to live in Europe

Greetings fellow expats!

My husband and I have been living and working in Germany for 2 years. We really enjoy life in Europe, but have two complaints: the people and the food. The food we can deal with, but despite many frustrating efforts, we feel like it will never be possible to be integrated with the people and are sick of the overall lack of friendliness and hospitality.

Therefore we are considering relocating somewhere else in Europe and I am interested in everyone's opinion. We're thinking Switzerland because we already speak German (although there are concerns re: reports of xenophobia and high living costs), Scandinavia, Spain, maybe France.

Could anyone share their thoughts and experiences living and working (and possible buying property) in any of these places?

We are in our mid-20's, a mechanical engineer and computer programmer, so countries with more jobs in those fields would be a plus. We were able to become fluent in German within one year, so we are willing and able to learn a foreign language.

I appreciate any advice. Thanks!
