After a particularly bad time at Detroit, I did some searching online and found plenty of feedback in regards to experiences at Detroit. In ordering the TN Visa kit from this site, it contained a stat list of all the POE's which backed up what I had found online. It shows Detroit(air/93%) having a high recommendation vs. Detroit(land/7%) at a medium recommendation. In contrast, Buffalo(land/97%) shows a high recommendation vs. Buffalo(air/2%) with a low recommendation based on the volume of TN's granted. In the end, it's all stats and my original answer was based on my experience and subsequent research and reading. If you have a solid, air-tight petition and matching credential, then by all means, Detroit may be fine.

Fact is, any POE can be a bear, given the officer you get and the paperwork you have to support the petition, however, Detroit has a bad rep even amongst immigration lawyers. In the end, it's all luck of the draw when applying at a POE.

Yes, the horror stories. I can tell you hundreds of horror stories. You see, i'm one of those know nothing Officers that has to put up with the inevitable ten cases of TN Fraud a day. Not everybody that applies is treated poorly. Most of the time when you are treated poorly it is because the Officer is just an ass. I work with a couple. But most of us go out of our way for applicants that are legitimate. If you read this board you can plainly see that their are many that come here to find a way into the USA using false information and applying for TN positions they don't qualify for. And you guys wonder why we are so wary of just passing out work visas.

Its nice to see "Steve" give out good information, he seems to give good honest and legal advise. Kudos Steve!

Agreed. There are those who try to circumvent the rules but as the moderators will tell you, we don't advocate illegal activity or fraud. I've dealt with some great CBP officers, very professional and courteous, but like any other profession, there are good and bad. While I can sympathize with the workload of determining fraudulent vs. legitimate petitions, speaking as someone on the other side of the counter, professional courtesy is much appreciated.

I completely agree with you. I actually processed 7 TN's today, all of them professional and most importantly, Honest.

I went to apply my TN last saturday on 7/25/09. I was afraid that the tunnel(yes, I went to the tunnel) won't be able to process my TN because people in this forum are saying that. However, I called the tunnel twice before my trip there, the answer I got is "We prefer process the TN during the weekdays, but we do open on weekends."

So, I went there, got my TN w/o any hassle, but somehow they took my fingerprints which I haven't never done that during the several TN I got over the years.

There is no best POE whatsoever, the most important thing is your got your original degree(s) and the offer letter with sufficient information for the job.

Good luck to our fellow Canadians!!

If you're talking about US-VISIT, this is a new requirement for Canadians entering in non-immigrant categories that started back in February I think. Only Canadian visitors are exempt from it now.

I've had 4 TNs from Pearson and it was painless. I'm a lawyer with U.S. license and credentials, so it doesn't require as much scrutiny as management consultant category. But at my 2nd TN processing, the Officer tried to give me a hard time. My undergraduate degree is in accounting and I have some accounting experience, but I'm not a CA or a CPA. The Officer, with his leg up on his desk, told me that I qualify as an accountant but not as a lawyer. Huh? I asked, I already passed 2 state bar exam, graduated from a U.S. ABA rated law school and paid all my states licenses dues - what more do I need to do to be considered a lawyer in your mind? He told me to wait. I waited 1 hour. Someone else called my name with my TN ready to go.

I'm sure everyone has a horror story or two. And yes, generallty most officers are professional. It's too bad that rare bad apples cause such bad impression on all of the officers.
