Best strategy for living and working in France

Hi,

I'm considering living in France for about 6 months. I'm applying for the work holiday visa. I'm interested in finding out other peoples experiences, living and working in France. I would love to know the following:
Did anyone use a program like SWAP?

How hard was it to find jobs, and what do you find is the best strategy for job hunting (short term placements)?

Is it easy to find part time English teaching jobs?

What have you found is the best way to supplement your stay?
