Born in Canada, Living in Australia

Post Mon Feb 14, 2011 5:00 pm

Hi,

I was born in Canada (and thus have citizenship), but have been raised and educated abroad (Australia, also a citizen). I'm hoping to go to California to work under TN status.

What's the best way to do this? Do I need to fly into Canada first, then do a border crossing while getting my TN status :/

Thanks a lot

Whatever is cheapest for you airfare-wise. You should be able to get a TN at any Intl airport in US. No need to pass thru canada. Just make sure you have your TN docs in order (TN letter, job offer, degree, etc). There are plenty of other sites which describe these in detail.

Doesn't OZ have a special E-3 visa status that is slightly better than TN? You could try for that, too.

Thanks Agnelson

Yeah, it is my first preference too. (Except my potential employer doesn't seem interested in anything other than TN status)
