Bringing a nanny

Post Sat Apr 25, 2009 6:07 am

My husband and I are working in the US for one month and need to bring a nanny with us for only the first 10 days. We have tried to find a nanny where we are working but have had no luck. Since she would be working for us, do we have to obtain any kind of work permit for her?

Likely yes.

What sort of status will you and your husband have that allows you to work in the US?

I have a P2 and he has an O1. What would be our options?

You may want to contact the US consulate and ask them. I am not at all familiar with P2 or O1 status. And a quick search thru the Department ofState website says that P2 is for Eritrians (!?) and the O1 is for Jordanians. :?:

She can come in as B-1 I think, read the instructions for I-765, domestic workers who have been employed for whatever amount of time it is can get employment authorization in the US.
Steve.
