Yes, you need to redo everything after getting your dog chipped. We looked into bringing our dog over and realized it was way too much trouble (and she's quite old so not worth putting her through it all).

Simplified...
1. Get a microchip
2. Rabies vaccine
3. Bloodwork sent to clinic for rabies testing/vaccine titer (this needs to be sent to a lab in the US, its the only one authorized by UK). We were told the cost would be around $250 (plus chip/vaccines)
4. Upon negative rabies test and titer, animal must remain in Canada for an additional 6 months. After this, can be brought into the UK with no quarantine.
5. Animal must be brought to the UK by one of a few authorized routes, they pretty much go from most large Canadian cities straight to London. Cost of this is $270CDN (plus paying for a proper kennel if need be, there are specifications about kennel size/type).
6. Prior to travel (24hrs I think) you need the dog to take some kind of worm medicine too I think. Can't remember what it was. Not sure the cost of that but I'm sure it was small compared to everything else.

Its a very tricky process.
