British Citisen wanting to move to Canada

Post Sun Aug 10, 2008 10:00 am

Hello all

I have not been able to get a straight answer on this question, can anyone help?

"I hold a British (EU) passport, does this automatically enable me to move and work in Canada"? Do I need a visa to work in Canada or by being British, am I automatically able to migrate to Canada?

Cheers

Nope, you'd have to qualify to immigrate just like anybody else.

Check out their website for info http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp

Being British makes not the slightest bit of difference.

As everyone else said the answer is no, you'll need to apply for a visa.

Try this website instead:

That website is for British citizens who are looking to immigration to other countries. I've given you the link for the section on immigrating to Canada. You should find lots of useful info on there.

As a general rule, I don't expect many Canadians to know the ins & outs to immigrating to their own country. You might get lucky though and find someone on here who has been through the process and is now a citizen. But I think most people on here are Canadians who have left to move abroad.
