Butter Tarts

Postby CareBear » Sun Dec 12, 2004 4:40 am

Hi there, if you are like me and have to have butter tarts at XMAS. I have found an awesome receipe that you can use. It doesn't involve using corn syrup which is kinda hard to find in the UK.

I found some premade tart shells in Tesco and used this receipe.
1/3 cup of melted butter
1 1/2 cups of brown sugar
3 eggs
1 cup of sultans (raisons)
1 tsp vanilla

In medium bowl cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, beating with a wisk or electric beater. Add in vanilla and sultans. You can either line the tart shells with raisons or add them to the mix. Put in preheated oven at 375 (5 on gas oven). Bake for 12-15 minutes till golden brown.

Yummmmmm.

I used the recipe and it worked very nicely. A nice change without the corn syrup and they actually taste better!! Thanks.

Good to know where to find it, .... but it's high in empty calories and you really don't need it in this recipe --- 128 calories in 2 tbsp (yikes!).
