Buying a car in Europe?

Hey all, havn´t been on this site for a while, because I´ve been backpacking for the last 2 months.

Anyways, my friends and I have ran the thought of buying a used van to sleep in and travel around europe with. My problem is getting ownership/insurance and legally driving around Europe. Has anyone done this before? What countries do you suggest looking into. I don´t have a european address.

I´ve looked into the French buy-back lease program which is awesome, but a little too expensive for our needs.

If anyone has any ideas or experiences, please let me know.
