Buying home in USA but working in Canada

Post Wed Sep 28, 2011 10:44 am

I'm wondering about the idea of buying my first residence just the other side of the border while still working in Canada, meaning crossing the border twice a day. Is that still subject to the 6 months visitors? Any ones having comments about this? Thx

This is not allowed. First, you MUST have a home in canada to even vist US. Second, even if you also have a home in canada, you will be considered by US border officiers as living in US (because of where you 'lay your head'), which means you need to have a status which permits this (which you won't).

The best you can do is have a home in canada, and a 'cottage' in US which you vist on week-ends.
