Hi there,
I am stuck in quite a bind and need some expertise. I am relocating on a TN this week and my fiance and I will be married this coming year in July in Canada, at that point she will be moving on a TD permit and studying.
My questions:
1. Does she need to switch status to a student VISA to qualify for the OPT program (practical training for 1 year).
2. Most schools private/public are telling us that they are not going to hire non-resident teachers even IF they are STATE certified, IS THIS TRUE? . is there anyone out there who is a CANADIAN teacher that has gotten an H1B or another Visa type to teach in the elementary/secondary school system?
I am finding this move a bit scary as she might be un-employed after her schooling which is still 2 years away but scary for her not to be able to work. Most schools are telling us, "we will hire you if you have your visa", but we cannot get a visa till be get hired?
Mr. Rizzo, if you are reading this, your help would be appreciated or ANYONE else who has had success getting hired as a teacher in a school on the west coast? Seattle Bellevue area?
Thank you
C
